How Does Ghostwriting Work?

A lot goes into writing a book. Leave that to me. I'm a professional. Here is all you need to know:

The relationship between the author (you) and the ghostwriter (me) is a close one. The ideas are yours. The voice is yours. The book is yours. As your ghostwriter, I help you define your book's objective, create a working outline, and produce a professionally written book ready for self-publishing.

Once we’ve determined what your goals and needs are to complete your book project, everything will be put into a contract we’ll both sign, agreeing to terms such as milestone dates, completion date, my fee and a payment schedule. Once the contract is signed, we can get to work.

The process begins with your idea. If you have notes, an outline, research materials, or a manuscript, I read, and then you talk and I listen. If what you have at the moment is an idea, we talk. All completely confidential.

As the ghostwriter, I do the heavy lifting interviewing, organizing, and writing. As the author, you have input at every step and the final say at every turn.

Once the manuscript is complete, your name alone goes on the book. You alone own the copyright. My work is work for hire. As a ghost, I remain anonymous and everything we've talked about and done remains confidential.

In addition to the writing, editing and manuscript creation is we do all the other "stuff" most ghosts never touch.

How Long Does It Take To Ghostwrite My Book?

I’ve ghostwritten numerous books and, in my experience, you can expect the ghostwriting process to take about eight to ten months from idea -to-holding your glorious masterpiece in your hands.

Our final timeline will vary based on your availability to schedule calls and provide editing feedback.

We’ll continue to set mutually-agreeable deadlines for milestones, so you always know what to expect and when.

I’m usually booked up in advance, so please see below for my current start-date availability.

There are ghostwriters out there charging every imaginable rate. They vary based on the writer’s experience, how in-demand they are, their interest in the subject matter, and, frankly, their confidence in their ability to produce a final product you can be proud of.

I believe in transparency.

You don’t want to waste your time on a phone call or Zoom, chatting with a ghost who charges pennies because they don’t have any experience, and the flip side, you also don't wanna chat up with one who won’t get out of bed for less than Beyonce's annual income.

My current rates begin at $50k USD for a business, self-help, or memoir book of up to 130 pages (see breakdown below).

We split this into installments. I take a deposit on signing of our agreement to secure your space in my schedule, followed by monthly installments, in USD.

If these rates don't work with your budget, that's totally OK. Like I said, transparency is critical here, but I will share that my rates are extremely competitive.

If you’re interested in writing your book yourself but with my help, you can also explore coaching options. Whatever your budget, you can write your book.

In early 2001 the entrepreneurial bug bit me (hard) and I founded my first company. That firm went on to make a big difference in the world, but not before a lot of trials and tribulation.

My purest and truest passion has always been writing, and after my company was acquired I dove back into my calling.
