At my core, I am a nurturer. A caregiver. It didn't matter what point of life I was in; I always put the well-being of others first. I made people feel better and helped them be better to live better. Sure, I wasn't t always a nurse but simply put, it was nursing that gave me the medium to do all this as a professional.
So why limit me to some preconceived idea of how I'm supposed to help and grow myself and at the same time make the world a better place?
That's why I decided to bite the hand that fed me and venture out on my own. Sound crazy? Yep.
Does it turn some people off? Probably. Nurses aren't supposed to do that, they say.
But most importantly, is this something any nurse can do and do successfully? Yes.
So what does a freelance nurse do?
What does a freelance nurse charge?
The truth is you'd be surprised. Shocked even.
There is no box, no game, no set of rules, contrary to what you've been told. I created my own reality, and after you read this, you'll know that you can too.
Over my career as a freelance nurse (20 years and still going), I've built several micro-businesses and some pretty large ones—freelance gigs with zero employees and some where we had to hire dozens, even hundreds of employees. Our gigs have gone on to make well into the high 7-figures, and others we've been happy as heck because they bring us an extra $1-$2k per month.
I've had an unusual life full of very diverse experiences, and they are all as a result of me wanting to become a nurse who works on his own terms. And because of that, I've learned some unconventional methods to do EXACTLY that.
This is what I want to share with you in this book. All in a no holds barred, "please copy or steal these ideas and go do it for yourself" fashion.
Now it's time to bite the hand that feeds you.
